Mat Movements + Week 10 Review
Setup: Staggered lines, arm's-width apart, one direction. Pairs form for the review half.
How it works: Lengths, twice each: shrimps, bridges, technical stand-up, and the new one — shield slides: on your side, top knee drawn up across an imaginary chest, slide down the mat leading with the bottom hip, shield never dropping. Then review week 10 in pairs, one minute each way: elbow escape from mount — and freeze the moment half guard arrives. Tell the room to remember that exact spot: tonight starts where last week stopped.
What to say
- “Shield slides: knee up at chest height, foot down at hip height — a diagonal, not a flat wall.”
- “Review escapes end frozen in half guard — feel the checkpoint tonight becomes a home.”
- “On the side, always — flat is the enemy in every rep of this hour.”
Easier
Half-lengths; review only to the frame-and-shrimp, skipping the freeze.
Harder
Shield slides both sides without resting; review at quarter resistance.
