Kit: Mats. Gi or no-gi both work — the hold is described by body parts, not grips.
Mat Movements + Week 4 Review
Setup: Staggered lines, arm's-width apart, one direction. Pairs form for the review half.
How it works: Lengths, twice each, with tonight's escape hiding inside them: shrimps done big and named as the star of the evening, bridges, technical stand-up, and a new one — side-lying frame-and-shrimp down the mat, pushing off an imaginary chest. Then week 4 review in pairs, two minutes each way: mount, place both collar grips slowly, partner taps to pressure, reset. Finish the review with one trap-and-roll each so week 3 stays alive too.
What to say
- “Tonight is a shrimping night — every centimetre your hips move is space they can't pin.”
- “Review chokes at placement speed — grips deep, pressure gentle.”
- “Frames are position one — elbows never drift from your ribs on the bottom.”
Easier
Half-lengths; review grips only, no finishing pressure.
Harder
Frame-and-shrimp lengths done eyes closed for feel; review at quarter resistance.
