Feet, Then Last Week's Jab

Lines move in stance, then shadow rounds where the hips learn to turnStep-drag lengths, then hips-only shadow

Setup: Three lines of four across the floor, wraps on, gloves off until pad work. Anyone who missed Jab Night pairs with someone who didn't — say it casually, fix it quietly.

How it works: One round of footwork lengths from stance: step-drag forward and back, lateral steps each way. Then two three-minute shadow rounds with thirty seconds rest, both built from last session: round one is jabs only — singles, step-jabs, doubles, at half speed with full attention on the hand coming home. Round two, let them feel the hips: no punches, just slow stance rotations, turning the back foot and hip through and snapping back. That rotation is tonight's whole lesson arriving early.

What to say

  • Everything tonight stands on last week — if the jab is lazy, the 1-2 is a lie.
  • Back to the cheekbone every time — the doorman never leaves the door.
  • Feel that back hip turn in the shadow — that's where the new punch lives.

Easier

One shadow round; rotations done hands-on-hips to feel the turn.

Harder

Round two adds a jab before every rotation — not yet a cross, just the rhythm of one-then-turn.
